The remaining participants had improvements as well. Eyebright benefits also include: prevention of sun damage to skill cells but combating free radicals, lower blood sugar levels in diabetics, treats inflammation that causes coughs, colds and sinus infections. It inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria including staphylococcus aureus and kiebsiella pneumoniae which are involved in eye infections, as well as protect against liver damaged caused by free radicals. Eyebright contains vitamins A, B vitamins, C and E, which all have eye nourishing properties. Vitamin B-1 is crucial for intracellular metabolism . Zinc, selenium and copper are also found in Eyebright and contribute to healthy retinas and lenses, while rutin offers nutritional support for the eyes. Eyebright is composed of 50 percent tannins which are astringent chemicals which reduce the secretion of mucus and can improve the firmness of tissues and relieve irritation.
